After acing the senior secondary exams, students in Jaipur must definitely be flipping through many college websites in order to find the right one for them. Given this scenario we decided to lighten the burden of the confused students of Jaipur by sharing a list of top colleges and universities in Jaipur for higher education.
Girls Colleges
1.) MAHARANI’S COLLEGE
One of the oldest all girls college established in 1944 and situated in the heart of the city. The college offers degrees in B.A, B.Com, B.SC, B.CA and B.B.A. Today the college is a part of university of Rajasthan and is Asia’s largest multi faculty college. Extracurricular activities are given equal importance as academics for the overall development of students.
This all girls institute for higher education has a plethora of undergraduate, post graduate and professional courses due to the vast number of departments. NSS and NCC are extremely active and various clubs work to enhance the activity of the college. The girl’s hostel is well furnished and gives a chance to girls from different parts of Rajasthan to live and study in an enriching environment.
Established in 1965 this institute offers higher education for women in UG, PG and other skill enhancement courses. It is situated on JLN Marg which also has other institutes for higher education. The college also has a hostel, computerised library, swimming pool, auditorium and various laboratories.
4.) MAHARAJA COLLEGE
Established in the year 1844 by the maharaja of Jaipur the college got its affiliation from university of Rajasthan in the year 1974. The campus is beautiful and the buildings are designed keeping in mind British Architecture. Courses offered are B.SC (pass course), B.SC (honours) and B.CA (under self finance scheme). The college houses a boy’s hostel with a capacity of 200 students and also has a well furnished library with over 1 lakh books.
5.) ST. XAVIER’S COLLEGE
In a short span of 7 years, St. Xavier’s College has achieved the position of one of the top colleges in Jaipur. The college offers undergraduate courses in arts, management, computers and commerce. The annual college fest “ZEST” is considered one of the best in Jaipur and it involves participation from various colleges of India. It also has another campus in Nevta.
Established 12 years ago as a branch of Pearl Academy, the Jaipur center boasts a huge campus with a beautifully designed building. UG and PG courses are offered in fashion, jewellery, interior, styling etc. It is also one of the highest ranked design colleges in Rajasthan.
Built on a land of 122 acres the university is not only for its beautiful campus but also for its quality education which is offered in UG, PG and PHD courses. Undergraduate courses include architecture, engineering, fashion design, humanities, social science etc. They have the facility of daily transportation for students residing in Jaipur and also have a separate boys and girls hostel in the campus.
It was founded in 1963 with aim of educating the youth in science, engineering and management. The college offers both Bachelor’s and Master’s courses. The lush green campus extends to 312 acres and has the facility of a fully computerised library, canteen, guest houses, bank, medical facilities and more.
Located in the outskirts of Jaipur, it is a self financed university offering courses in medicine, architecture, nursing, dentistry, humanities, social sciences, management, law and many more. The university has also contributed for the upliftment in rural areas of Rajasthan with their social outreach programs which have benefited thousands of needy patients all over the state.
Jaipur national university was established in 2007 and it offers various traditional and distance courses in fields like management, sciences, technology, engineering, social sciences, law etc. The institute also offers research programs and has grown immensely since its inception 10 years back.
11.) AMITY UNIVERSITY
Amity University, Rajasthan, believes in nurturing talent along-side excellence in academics. Green pollution free campus creates ideal ambience for learning and personality development. The University looks at grooming of youth beyond excellence. It offers graduate, post-graduate as well as Ph.D programmes in a lot of conventional as well as unconventional fields.

12) R.A. PODAR Institute of Management
The oldest B-School in the city, Ramnath Anandilal Podar Institute of Management (RAPIM), has been a pioneer in management education for past 45 years. Founded in the year 1974 the institute offers courses in MBA, MBA(Services Management) and MBA(Executive) along with a Ph.D. program in Management. The institute is affiliated to Rajasthan University, which adds to its credibility.

Since its inception Jaipur has been the cradle to knowledge, It has been a reputed learning centre of the country. University of Rajasthan a.k.a. Rajputana University is one of the oldest in Modern India. It has been an alma mater for many distinguished personalities around the globe. The basis of its academic excellence has been an array of colleges which are either its constitute or are affiliated to it. A further peep into few of them will consolidate the basis.
- Maharaja’s College
Sprawling lawns, heritage style building, the hub of many co-curricular activities, Maharaja College is a premier campus for UG students in Science stream. The first constituent college of the University since 1844by Sawai Ram Singh II was initially a multi faculty, college for boys, but was later on converted into college for imparting knowledge exclusively for science faculty for boys. - Maharani’s College
Just opposite Maharaja’s college, Jaipur exists Maharani’s College, a premier multi faculty college exclusively for girl students. Established in the year 1944 Maharani’s College draws its name from the title of queen of Jaipur, Gayatri Devi. Apart for academic excellence, the institution is a hub for cultural activities too. An annual cultural fest is a much awaited event of the collage. A rare known fact that it is one of the few colleges in India, which has highest grade Urdu and Farsi scholars as faculties on a roll.

- University Rajasthan College
An institute par excellence for subjects relating to Arts stream. This constituent college though is not as vast as the Maharaja’s and Maharani’s College in terms of campus, but the educational level is none the less inferior to them. A large number of subject in Arts stream are available as options for the students.
- University Commerce College
Just adjacent to Rajasthan College is a Commerce College is a reputed center for students who wish to opt for a bachelor’s degree in Commerce. As the name suggests, it imparts education in Commerce stream. A late entrant to the fraternity of constituent colleges, Commerce College has produced many outstanding scholars especially in Accountancy and a number of excellent Chartered Accountants for the country.
- Kanoria Girls PG College
Though Jaipur has never been as open minded in comparison to other cities of the country in context to freedom to females and their lifestyle, but Jaipurites have always been open minded when it comes to female education and accordingly, Now in it’s 50th year, University of Rajasthan affiliated Multi faculty Post Graduated college for girls Kanoria College came into existence as early as 1965 when campuses for higher education were very few in the entire country.

- S.S. Jain Subodh College
As stated earlier, Jaipurites had and still has a craze for high quality education and in line to it, a group of wealthy Jain business men formed an educational society in 1954 under the name of S.S. Jain Subodh Shiksha Samiti to start this college. The society imparts multi faculty education from primary to post-graduate level for boys and girls through its various campuses all over Jaipur. Affiliated to University of Rajasthan, Jaipur and Rajasthan Technical University, Kota, SS Jain Subodh College is an academic body having autonomous status.

An interesting fact about these colleges is that two constituents and one Affiliate College each are lined up on two important roads of the city i.e. Tonk Road and JLN Marg.
But this is not all! Pink city hosts many more colleges be it Medicine, Management, Engineering, Fashion Designing etc.
